I just bought an automatic petrol volvo v40 r design. Treat to myself after a horrible 6 months! I love the way it looks and its quick. My ex put me off a petrol auto i had years ago because of the mpg and i sold it after 3 months because i felt so guilty for what it "cost". So its a f you to him and we do 26 - 30 around town and 40-50 on a run. Every time i hear his voice about mpg i put it in s mode and floor it and the smile on my face makes up for everything. Sometimes you have to buy with your heart and not your head! The last car i loved so much was a Mini Cooper S i had and if i could get away with a car so small, despite their arm length issues, i absolutely would have another cooper s! I love cars and i have learned the hard way to just buy whatever the hell will make you smile 😁☺️ xx

I have a Peugeot RCZ 2.0hdi 2014 (facelift). It is my daily which averages around 55mpg and is reliable. Wrapped in a sexy package like the RCZ you can't go wrong!

Just bought a tidy mk2 Fabia estate Monte Carlo 1.6tdi and loving the fuel economy! Always above 50mpg once warmed up, long term average is 58mpg. 64mpg on motorway

biggest shock is the road Jaguar have gone down, and no Matt, you should do a video on how you'd run JLR, you'd massively overspend of course......

Don't trust car manufacturers mpg figures they are not true new cars are tested in car manufacturers labs with no seats in them and put on a rolling road test so in the real world you will probably get between 8 to 10 mpg less than what it claimed.

Avoid Skoda Superb 4x4 DSG christ mine is horrendous. Only gets 6mpg better than my 3.6 RR on a long run. It gets 26mpg around town 39mpg on a long run

my 2.0 TDI DSG Skoda Superb Estate does 50-60mpg easily which is good for such a big lump

Matt, as you were commenting on the various cars that popped up, it struck me that the average buyer has got no chance. We just wouldn’t know the particular problems that different cars have. That’s hard won experience you have but very valuable.

Merc amg line are quite pricey to change discs and pads. Mostly because there isn't a huge range of choice for them. This for w205, c class estate.

Lol in Australia they cost more. They are called Yaris. Registration cost about $160- for 3 months. Full insurance about $50- a month. Aud dollar. $60-70 to fill the tank

My 2010 E Class 2.2 CDI estate gets 44mpg. Happy with that. Auto box too

2018 (G31) BMW 520d. Average MPG 50. Great combination of premium looks, practicality, lovely interior and a great drive. It’s an incredible vehicle!

After 239k miles, I am still smitten 20 years later, with our, since new 2004, L322. NA 4.4L BMW V8, Epsom Green with Sand, Lux, HSE. Range Rover nailed it with this one.

My mate has a 2.0 diesel BMW x1 which has done 238000 miles on the original timing chain with no rattle, but he changes the oil every 6000 miles

Obviously not good compared to diesels, but my new M440i Gran Coupe is brilliant. Driving Bath to Whitstable last week, I got 43.6mpg which I consider to be outstanding for a 3.0 6 cylinder petrol with mild hybrid lugging a 1800kg car. Even a brief spell of enjoying it's phenomenal power doesn't hit the overall consumption by much.

I would really like to have one of these. They aren’t too expensive to buy considering their luxury but with only 8 on sale in my country I would not afford to find any parts when needed. Something about being in a luxury car that most people will think is just a Passat is appealing to me.

I have a 2008 Honda Civic type S, a rare diesel version, I used to get 67mpg out of it driving in flat areas but I now live in a very hilly area which has dropped my average to 42mpg. 2.2 diesel, 138bhp and 250lb torque. Being that it is old and cheap though means I don't get cheap tax, lower tax is only for wealthier drivers, the poorer driver is robbed blind sadly.
